German Transport Planning Prize awarded

The Association for Urban, Regional and State Planning SRL e. V. in cooperation with the VCD 2020 is awarding the German Transport Planning Prize for the sixth time: "VOM PARKRAUM ZUM FREIRAUM. Projects and concepts for a traffic turnaround in public space".

Projects and concepts that solve complex tasks in an innovative and interdepartmental manner and initiate cooperation in urban and transport planning are honoured. These should be characterised by integrated urban and transport planning, high design quality and an improved environmental situation. In doing so, the growing space requirements of pedestrian and bicycle traffic as well as public transport are to be taken into account, as well as the requirements for liveable urban spaces and climate adaptation measures.

Against the background of growing competition for space, the projects offer solutions for dealing with parking and show good examples of a fairer distribution of space. They increase the quality of stay in the street space and thus make an important contribution to the traffic turnaround.

Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 12:00 pm. The award will be presented at the SRL Annual Conference on 19 November 2020 in Karlsruhe.
