The bdla student competition Central Germany 2017 / 2018 was supervised by the regional group Saxony-Anhalt.

As a result of the annual preliminary meeting in the rooms of the Chamber of Architects in Leipzig, the Great Goat Hill in Ballenstedt was selected as the competition theme under the motto "Garden meets History". The focus of the competition task was the outdoor facilities of an unloved monument, the gigantic building complex of the former Nationalpolitische Lehranstalt (Napola), which was used as a SED district party school for the district of Halle from 1949 to 1990 and currently lies largely derelict except for occasional use by various sports clubs. The city of Ballenstedt was won as a planning partner.

Once again, the company Computerworks acted as sponsor. For the first time, the companies Leipziger Leuchten and Berliner Seilfabrik made a financial contribution to the competition. 23 teams and students from the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences, the TU Dresden and the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Bernburg took part. In view of the number of works to be assessed, the judges agreed on a redistribution of the prizes and an additional special purchase:

1st prize Ms. Nadine Natzschka, TU Dresden - project "Ballenstedt Park:Kur".

1st prize Mr. Marcel Götz, TU Dresden- Project "Neue Aussichten" (New prospects)

3rd prize Mr. Christophe Belzacq and Mr. Alexander-Maximilian Staudt, FH Erfurt - project "A place of 'breaking' is broken".

Special purchase: Ms. Pia Müller and Ms. Anna-Lena Horn, FH Erfurt - Project demos kratos
