Earthworks are required for almost all construction measures. Depending on the trade, different knowledge of the soil conditions are required here to create the basis for solving, tendering, measurement and billing, disposal and also for soil mechanics calculations.

The VOB Part A to C is one of the binding principles in the tendering and award of construction contracts and the conclusion of construction contracts of the public sector. Part VOB C is also issued in the form of DIN standards, is generally binding and of high importance in construction law. Significant changes have occurred here in 2015, which have also led to considerable uncertainty in construction practice.

Soil and rock are to be divided into homogeneous areas according to their condition before loosening. The homogeneous area according to ATV DIN 18300 of the VOB/C is a limited area, consisting of single or several soil or rock layers, which has comparable properties for applicable earthworks equipment. The division into homogeneous areas is the task of the subsoil expertise. With regard to the preparation of contract documents, ranges are to be specified for soil parameters. In the bills of quantities, LV items are to be included for each homogeneous area.

The online seminar shows an overview of the handling of soils and mineral finishing materials according to the current VOB/C and the path from the exploration to the tender to the construction and disposal.
