Online seminar of the bdla on 23 June 2021

At the beginning of 2021, the FLL technical report "Catalogue of Services for the Development of Garden Monument Preservation Target Plans" was published. This represents a new instrument for the qualification and standardisation of garden monument conservation. In an online seminar on 23 June 2021, the bdla, in cooperation with the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz (German Foundation for the Preservation of Monuments), will discuss the development of garden monument preservation target plans that can be used for all types of listed testimonies of garden and landscape culture, such as historic cultural landscapes, gardens, parks, cemeteries, city squares or open spaces in connection with historic buildings.

Profound knowledge of garden history and experience in garden monument conservation are required for the processing of garden monument conservation target planning. In the seminar, the basics and minimum standards for investigation will be presented, and reference will be made to the evaluation and formulation of target planning for the preservation of monuments. Of course, the online seminar offers the opportunity for questions and in-depth discussion.

The speakers of the online seminar are Prof. Stefan Pulkenat and Prof. Dr. Caroline Rolka. Prof. Pulkenat, a freelance landscape architect in Gielow/Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and honorary professor at the University of Applied Sciences Neubrandenburg, heads the bdla working group on garden monument preservation and was significantly involved in the creation and development of the catalogue of services.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Caroline Rolka, also a member of the bdla working group on garden monument conservation and involved in the development of the catalogue of services, holds the chair of "History of Garden Art / Garden Monument Conservation" at the university.

Participants will receive a certificate of continuing education. Recognition as a continuing education course will be applied for at the North Rhine-Westphalian Chambers of Architects. The architectural chambers of Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Bremen, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia generally recognise bdla training courses.

Date: 23 June 2021, 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
