The green infrastructure plan can make a contribution to green infrastructure, to improving recreational conditions, to strengthening public spaces and, last but not least, to the health of the population. The instrument of green space planning anchored in the Nature Conservation Act should also be expanded through the implementation of corresponding regulations. Prof. Catrin Schmidt reports on the results of the research project "Weiterentwicklung der Grünordnungsplanung vor dem Hintergrund aktueller Herausforderungen" (BfN 2024) on these issues. Martin Janotta enriches the topic with practical case studies from the perspective of a landscape planning office.
