Federal Congress 2024 of the green associations on June 7 and 8, 2024 in Bonn

"Climate adaptation - successful municipal implementation" - representatives from administration, politics, science, planning and the green sector came together in Bonn on June 7, 2024 for their annual federal congress of green associations. Rüdiger Dittmar, President of the German Conference of Gardening Officers (GALK e.V.), welcomed the 180 or so attendees to the Gustav Streseman Institute. Green-blue infrastructures as a necessity for climate adaptation "ran like a red thread" through the speakers' presentations. Nature-based solutions were named as pioneers and trailblazers of the urgently needed urban and landscape redevelopment and municipalities were assigned a key role.

IFLA Europe launches another competition for students and young professionals

The theme of the IFLA Europe competition is "PLAN(e)T SCAPE". The focus is on plants as a multifunctional factor (including innovative and novel uses of plants in the context of climate adaptation, trees as important cooling and shading elements, etc.) in landscape architecture.

7th bdla Plant Planner Talks on September 18/19 in Munich

Climate change is increasing the demand for sustainable and climate-resilient outdoor spaces. The use of plants is therefore often in an exciting phase of upheaval that is turning conventional aesthetics on their head.

At the Plant Planner Talks 2024 in Munich, current trends in the use of plants will be examined: Urban nature concepts, tree care, micro-forests, climate adaptation in historic green spaces. The program will be supplemented by current research results, e.g. on fire protection in façade greening. An excursion program on Thursday, 19 September 2024, completes the specialist lectures.
