Applications can be submitted until 31 October 2026
The 2027 German Urban Development Award is now open for entries. It recognises outstanding projects in urban development and urban design – projects that break new ground, provide innovative solutions to current challenges and demonstrate how sustainable cities and regions can be shaped.
The prize is endowed with a total of 25,000 euros. The 2027 Special Prize, ‘Spaces of Cohesion – Urban Development that Connects’, focuses on the question of how urban development and planning can strengthen social cohesion and create places that bring people together.
Freelance and employed urban planners, architects and landscape architects, as well as public and private planning authorities, may apply for the prizes until 31 October 2026 (date as per postmark).
The winning projects will be announced during a gala awards ceremony on 2 July 2027 at the Academy of Arts on Pariser Platz in Berlin, following the ‘Oscar principle’. The event will also mark the opening of the exhibition for the German Urban Development Prize 2027, which will tour Germany as a travelling exhibition from autumn 2027 onwards.
