We have the following vacancy (m/f/d) in the Civil Engineering and Green Office to be filled as soon as possible:



Head of the Civil Engineering and Green Office



Friedrichshafen is growing - and so are the requirements for an efficient, sustainable and future-oriented infrastructure. In order to meet the diverse tasks in the areas of civil engineering, urban greenery and cemeteries, wastewater treatment/sewage treatment plant and municipal building operations (building yard), the city of Friedrichshafen will in future bundle its technical expertise in a newly created office: the Civil Engineering and Green Office.


The aim is to strategically develop the city's infrastructure, strengthen ecological standards and manage technical processes efficiently and from a single source. The new office will play a central role in the sustainable design and maintenance of liveable urban spaces. For the responsible and committed management of this newly established office, we are looking for a qualified and experienced manager to take over as soon as possible, who will actively help to shape the development of the office and make a significant contribution to the sustainable orientation of the urban infrastructure.



Your tasks



- Development and implementation of strategic goals for the sustainable design of urban infrastructure in the departments of Civil Engineering, Urban Greenery and Cemeteries, Municipal Construction Companies (building yard), Wastewater Treatment/Sewage Treatment Plant

- Conception of efficient organizational structures and processes to strengthen the performance of the newly established office - including restructuring of the municipal construction companies

- Overarching management and overall responsibility for complex infrastructure projects - including technical planning, awarding processes and coordination of internal and external project participants

- Responsibility for technical management and personnel management with a focus on personnel development, modern team organization and the design of smooth processes between departments

- Overall responsibility for the technical operation of the municipal wastewater utility in accordance with the Municipal Utilities Act - including infrastructure maintenance, environmental protection, investment planning and organization of efficient operational processes

- Representation of the department in political bodies, the public and inter-municipal networks - including coordination of meeting submissions, participation in association meetings and cooperation with higher-level authorities

Your profile



- A university degree related to the field of activity (master's/diploma/master's degree), primarily in the field of civil engineering, civil engineering, landscape conservation, landscape architecture or comparable

- Several years of successful relevant professional and management experience in the above-mentioned area of responsibility

- Sound technical planning knowledge and experience in project implementation and construction management are an advantage

- Business management knowledge is an advantage

- Confident leader with very strong technical and social skills

- High degree of initiative, organizational skills, ability to work under pressure as well as decision-making and communication skills

- Strategic/visionary/conceptual thinking and action as well as strength in leading and motivating employees

- Ability to deal with criticism and conflict, assertiveness and the ability to work in a team and reach consensus
