The City of Duisburg is looking for a department head (f, m, d) for the Environmental Agency's Green Space and Open Space Planning Division. We are shaping urban green spaces with a future!
With around 500,000 inhabitants, the city of Duisburg is the westernmost major city in the Ruhr area, combining industrial areas, residential neighborhoods, and extensive green spaces. Characterized as a commercial and industrial location with coal and steel and the largest inland port in Europe, environmental and structural change is becoming increasingly important today. This is reflected in sustainable urban development that takes climate adaptation into account, in renaturalized areas and new recreational spaces. The Environmental Agency of the City of Duisburg performs a wide range of tasks in this area and is looking for a strong leader with technical expertise and a creative drive to head the Green and Open Space Planning Department, someone who can make change happen.
Your main tasks Technical, organizational, and personnel management of the Green and Open Space Planning Department with responsibility for personnel, budget, and subsidies, financial and project controlling Reorientation of the department, planning and implementation of change processes, and further development of the department
Coordination of complex planning and implementation projects for public green spaces Communication and representation, close coordination with municipal departments, Duisburg's municipal utilities, regional associations, and external experts, participation in regional and supraregional expert committees
Ensuring occupational health and safety and data protection in the department What you bring A university degree (master's or diploma) in landscape architecture, land management, landscaping, or a comparable field
and several years of professional and management experience in the maintenance and planning of green spaces, in organizational development and change management, and in subsidy management Knowledge of the relevant legal situations (e.g., architectural, construction, planning, procurement, and environmental law) as well as in budget and project controlling
Very good communication, presentation, and cooperation skills Strong leadership, decision-making, and conflict management skills High degree of responsibility, strategic thinking, and persuasiveness Willingness to participate in personnel development measures for managers in the Duisburg city administration Details
Start date: immediately Position: A 15 LBesG NRW / EG 15 TVöD (approx. €6,634.00 - €8,204.00) The consideration of professional experience relevant to the length of service will be decided on an individual basis
