Landscape planner / environmental engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on hydrology Permanent position | Architecture and engineering | Full-time, part-time | E 12 Would you like to play an active role in shaping Wolfsburg as a water-sensitive sponge city? Our goal is to permanently maintain the performance and functionality of the natural environment in the urban area in order to offer our citizens a high quality of life. The sponge city principle encompasses climate change adaptation with protection against flooding, ensuring sustainable water retention, and improving the microclimate and biodiversity. The tasks of the "Blue-Green Office" are assigned to a dedicated team that works to avoid interventions in nature and the landscape as much as possible, minimize unavoidable impacts, and compensate for remaining impairments with appropriate mitigation and replacement measures.
What you can expect: • STRATEGIC PLANNING You will take the lead in developing a comprehensive municipal concept for improving water retention with guidelines and action programs for water-sensitive and heat-adapted open space development as part of the climate adaptation strategy.
• PROJECT WORK You will take on the technical and organizational management of interdisciplinary projects for the planning and implementation of measures for sustainable blue-green infrastructure (e.g., within the framework of funding programs). • EVALUATION You will develop monitoring concepts to evaluate the effectiveness of measures.
• TECHNICAL ADVICE You will advise senior management, political committees, and the public on the importance and implementation of blue-green infrastructure and water-sensitive urban development, organize relevant technical events and citizen participation formats, and participate in higher-level networks on sponge cities.
What sets you apart: • QUALIFICATIONS You have a university degree in landscape/environmental planning, environmental sciences, environmental engineering, landscape architecture, hydrosciences, or a university degree with a comparable focus.
• EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE You have several years of professional experience in the fields of environmental planning, ideally in the specialist area of water management/hydrology. • PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION SKILLS You structure projects systematically, set realistic goals, and implement them efficiently and purposefully. • COMMUNICATION SKILLS You express yourself clearly, listen actively, and find words that convey complex issues in a way that is appropriate for the target audience.
