For the third time in a row, Callwey Verlag and Garten Landschaft are holding the GARDENS OF THE YEAR competition. The best private gardens in German-speaking countries designed by landscape architects / garden and landscape designers are being sought.

Partners of the competition are Mein schöner Garten, Gartenpraxis, BGL Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e. V., bdla Bund Deutscher Landschaftsarchitekten, DGGL Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gartenkunst und Landschaftskultur e.V., KANN GmbH Baustoffwerke, Hofquartier and Schloss Dyck.

Whether a garden has what it takes to be a winning project is not decided solely by standards such as creative design, site-appropriate choice of plants and materials, special plant combinations or economic efficiency. Rather, holistic concepts are required that turn the garden into an extended living and enjoyment space for the user in an individual way. The jury will decide on this at its meeting on 20 July 2017 in Munich; bdla Vice President Irene Burkhardt, landscape architect in Munich, will judge on behalf of the bdla.

The closing date for entries is 7 July 2017. Landscape architects and garden and landscape designers who are the authors of the projects submitted are eligible to enter. The gardens should have been realized in German-speaking countries and not yet published in a book publication. The entry fee for the first or only submission is 150 Euro incl. VAT. Each additional submission is free of charge.
