One of the great challenges of the energy transition is to develop new design qualities for landscapes.

This is the conclusion of the final report of the research project "Landscape and Energy Transition", which has now been published in two volumes together with practice-oriented recommendations for action.

The publication provides a summary analysis of the landscape-aesthetic effects of wind energy, ground-mounted photovoltaic and biogas plants as well as pumped storage power plants. Their consideration in current planning and approval procedures was also examined. bdla member Prof. Dr. Catrin Schmidt, Professor of Landscape Planning at the TU Dresden, led the research consortium of several universities and the planning office HHP Hage Hoppenstedt Partner. It was supported by the BfN with funds from the Federal Ministry for the Environment.
