In the current legislative period, the Federal Ministry of the Interior is also responsible "for construction and home affairs".

In the answer of the Federal Government to a small inquiry of the parliamentary group BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN, the underlying "modern understanding of the concept of home" is defined.

There are also recognizable points of contact with the fields of activity of landscape architecture. The text states, among other things, that "homeland policy is to be understood as a common design task. [...] Home was and is always also a space of social relations, balance and integration.". It goes on to say that the homeland department "is concerned with structural policy measures to create equal living conditions. In doing so, it will also make use of the instruments of spatial planning policy."
