The Federal Government is currently preparing the second progress report of the German Climate Change Adaptation Strategy. The bdla is participating in the ongoing consultations.

In its statement, the bdla noted a lack of external effectiveness of the central social field of action "climate adaptation", which only plays a minor role in public discourse. There is also often a lack of sufficient anchoring of the topic in political bodies, especially in the municipalities.

Furthermore, the bdla advocates a long-term oriented funding programme for green-blue infrastructure in urban and rural areas. In addition, the goals of the White Paper on Urban Greening and the Master Plan on Urban Nature should be systematically implemented.

It is suggested that the spatial planning cluster be supplemented by concrete statements on formal and informal planning instruments with outstanding significance for concrete climate adaptation measures (landscape planning, green space plan, intervention regulation, open space development concepts, open space design plan).

The bdla will present its views and proposals at the following dialogue event on 24 June 2020.
