The parliamentary group of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen is calling for more nature and open spaces for cities. This should strengthen the climate resilience of cities and prepare them for the effects of the climate crisis. Among other things, this is to be made possible by an urban development programme worth 800 million euros.

The Bundestag motion "Increasing the climate resilience of cities through more nature and open spaces" coincides to a large extent with bdla demands. Numerous measures are named, including:

  • Urban development funding programme "Green open spaces and water for cool cities" amounting to 800 million euros.
  • Expansion of federal funding programmes to include the aspects of "urban nature", "urban green" and "urban climate", in line with the recommendations of the White Paper on Urban Greening.
  • Strengthening the city-wide reference of funding and measures to improve green and blue infrastructure Allowing for city-wide redevelopment areas that go beyond a purely neighbourhood or sub-area reference
  • considerable adjustments of the building planning and nature conservation law
