Call for the federal competition "Our village has a future

The nationwide competition is entering its 28th round. All village communities with up to 3,000 inhabitants that are committed to the social, cultural, economic, ecological and structural interests of their hometown in the countryside can participate.

Awards are given to active and creative villages that make local life attractive. registration for the competition initially takes place at regional level. Depending on the federal state, there are several competition stages. The selected finalists will be visited and evaluated by a jury of experts in the summer of 2026.

The focus will be on civic engagement. The evaluation will include: social facilities, cultural offerings, a vibrant club life, local supply issues, digitalization and mobility, adaptation to climate change, and responsible building and green design. The national competition will again award a range of prize money.
