Under the theme ‘The Value of Green Spaces – Health and Social Potential’, experts from local authorities, associations and the business sector met in Frankfurt am Main from 10 to 13 June 2026 to discuss the future of urban green spaces. The event kicked off on 11 June with the 68th German Conference of Heads of Parks and Gardens, attended by around 90 participants.
The Joint Federal Congress of the Green Professional Associations on 12 June focused on the importance of urban green spaces for health, quality of life and social inclusion, as well as strategies for strengthening green infrastructure. Current challenges and the political framework were also discussed, including the amendment to the Building Code (BauGB), the EU Recovery Regulation, climate resilience and biodiversity.
The congress made it clear that urban green spaces are a key component of liveable, healthy and sustainable cities.
