The spirit of optimism for good planning and building was palpable at the Building Culture Convention held in Potsdam on 10 and 11 June 2026. And with it came a zest for change in shaping the future. As part of the event, the Federal Foundation for Building Culture presented the new Building Culture Report 2026/27, ‘Design – Processes, Construction, Cohesion’. If we are to master the future, we must actively shape it – through targeted collaboration and high-quality design of the built environment. Building culture is therefore central to a society that is liveable and sustainable.
To mark the foundation’s 20th anniversary, the Advisory Board highlighted the increasingly positive impact of the foundation’s work in its report ‘What can building culture achieve?’. In addition, those appointed to the Convention elected the new members of the Foundation Board and the Advisory Board. The new members are expected to be announced in July. With more than 1,600 visitors over two days, the 10th Baukultur Convention in Potsdam attracted its largest ever turnout of committed participants.
A varied programme of exhibitions and networking events took place at the Schirrhof, in the Arena Foyer and in the open spaces of Schiffbauergasse: Ten teams presented their built ideas for ‘30 m³ Baukultur’ – a competition for emerging talent organised by the Federal Foundation and its Friends’ Association in the run-up to the Baukultur Convention.
