The European Commission has opened the application phase for the New European Bauhaus Awards and the ‘Boost for Small Municipalities’ 2026. The awards recognise projects and concepts that combine sustainability, aesthetics and social inclusion, thereby transforming the built environment in line with the New European Bauhaus.
A total of up to €30,000 in prize money is available per winning project. In addition to projects that have already been implemented, up-and-coming talents with ideas are also welcome to apply. A new feature is a special funding programme for small local authorities, designed to offer them additional support in implementing innovative Bauhaus approaches. The ‘Boost for Small Municipalities’ is specifically aimed at smaller towns and local authorities, providing them with financial and technical support to develop and implement New European Bauhaus projects locally, thereby driving forward sustainable transformation even outside major cities.
The Commission emphasises that the New European Bauhaus is a key instrument for linking climate action, built environment and social participation. It is seeking projects in areas such as sustainable construction, the circular economy, landscape and open-space design, and socially inclusive urban development.
Applications for the awards and the ‘Boost’ scheme can be submitted here until 17 March 2026.
