Competition launched. Deadline extended until 27 July 2021

At the end of April 2021, Callwey Verlag and Garten Landschaft, together with their partners, including the bdla, launched the GARDENS OF THE YEAR 2022 competition. Auslober and partners are again looking for the best private gardens designed by landscape architects, gardeners and landscape gardeners in the German-speaking area. 5,000 euro wave the first price as price money; further offices receive an honor. The deadline for entries has been extended to 27 July 2021.

Request for participation: Economic Situation Survey

Once again this year, the AHO, VBI and the Federal Chamber of Engineers are calling on people to take part in the current survey on the economic situation of engineering and architectural offices in Germany. The survey is conducted by the Institute for Liberal Professions (IFB). The survey takes about 10 - 15 minutes to complete. The evaluation of the survey provides important information on the economic performance of the industry and flows into the lobbying work of chambers and associations.

German Landscape Architecture Award 2021 goes to Westpark in Augsburg

Jury awards one first prize and nine prizes

The competition for the German Landscape Architecture Award 2021 has been decided. The first prize goes to the Westpark, Augsburg, design author: Lohaus ∙ Carl ∙ Köhlmos, PartGmbB Landschaftsarchitekten ∙ Stadtplaner, Hanover. This was the result of the jury meeting on 23 April 2021 in Berlin.

HOAI appraisal - increase of the table values demanded

The Association of Consulting Engineers (VBI) had commissioned an expert opinion on the topicality of the HOAI table values. It comes to the conclusion that the table values would have to be raised significantly, see press release of the VBI. In six selected service profiles, increases of up to 26.7 percent were determined. The report was prepared by a team led by Dipl.-Ing. Klaus-Dieter Siemon, who was already involved in the update of the HOAI and the fee scales in 2013 on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics.

Draft law on insect protection controversially debated

On 19 April 2021, experts critically appraised the Federal Government's insect protection policy at a public hearing in the Committee for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of the German Bundestag, focusing in particular on the area of conflict between agriculture and insect protection. The subject of the hearing was the draft of a third law to amend the Federal Nature Conservation Act.
