Garden Show Bad Herrenalb 2017: Competition for the design of a show garden

In 2017, the town of Bad Herrenalb will host the Garden Show Bad Herrenalb 2017 under the motto "Blossom Dream & Black Forest Flair".

The freelance landscape architect bdla, Prof. Ulrike Böhm, Boehm Benfer Zahiri Landschaften Städtebau bbzl from Berlin, developed the framework planning for this, which is divided into four sections: Town Hall Square, Kurpomenade/Kreisel, Kurpark/Parkpromenade and Schweizerwiese.

Due to the planned development on the Schweizer Wiese site, this area is largely excluded from the framework planning. Since the newly designed areas of Kurpark and Rathausplatz are insufficient in terms of space for the large number of planned exhibition contributions, Schweizerwiese is also included in the exhibition concept. Due to the large available space potential, a large part of the exhibition contributions can be offered here. The Schweizerwiese will thus become the focal point of the temporary exhibition in the garden show year.

The Association of German Landscape Architects, Landesverband Baden-Württemberg e.V., has suggested that prospective landscape architects, students and graduates, be sought for the design and implementation process by means of a competition for the design of the show garden.

The design of a prize winner will be built by the trainees of the regional companies of the Verband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau Baden-Württemberg e.V. with the support of a gardening and landscaping company. The companies provide labour and equipment. The bdla Baden-Württemberg e.V. supports and advises the award winner in the realisation of the garden.
