Conference topic
Alongside the landscape, towns and villages are important places of biodiversity - as living spaces for people, they form the basis for healthy living conditions. Or they could become so! Cities and settlements that promote the health of their inhabitants through greenery will be sustainable cities. At the same time, local authorities often have limited financial resources and have to take on numerous public service tasks.

Intelligent planning with nature and the multiple use of space and area are the keys in the hands of planners. Urban and landscape planning that naturally takes the needs of plants and animals into account, that uses the soil in a way that conserves resources and integrates an intelligent water regime, that gives preference to low-tech solutions over high-tech solutions, is groundbreaking.

What new findings and concrete approaches for urban and landscape planning are there in Baden-Württemberg and beyond? How can healthy green spaces and biodiversity harmonize? How can a lot of biodiversity be brought into the city with limited financial resources? What strategies show the way, what examples of best practice, what funding opportunities are currently available?

Municipalities as well as regional and urban planners and landscape architects are faced with the complex task of jointly developing, organizing and implementing sustainable answers for cities and their surrounding areas in order to promote sustainable, healthy living conditions.

The Association of German Landscape Architects Baden-Württemberg, in cooperation with the SRL Regional Group Baden-Württemberg and the BVDL, will address the current topics of sustainable nature-based planning, look beyond the boundaries of the disciplines and present approaches to solutions with experts from planning offices, administrations and universities. There will also be plenty of time and opportunity for a personal exchange of experiences among fellow experts. Landscape Planning 2023 will be held as a face-to-face event.
