The 2026 Annual General Meeting of bdla Baden-Württemberg e. V. took place on 8 May 2025 at the Heilbronn Education Campus. Following a welcome address by the Chair, Daniel Lindemann, the Executive Board presented a review of the activities and developments during 2025. The increase in new members is encouraging, following the entry into force of the new 2025 membership fee regulations at the level of the bdla Federal Association. The treasurer presented the 2025 financial statements; following the audit report, the Executive Board and management were granted discharge.

Other topics included the report on supporting young talent, which provided information on the Germany Scholarship; this can also be funded by practice owners to provide targeted support for students on the Landscape Architecture degree programme at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics and the Environment (HfWU). The Executive Board was tasked with arranging another scholarship on behalf of the association for the winter semester 2026 / summer semester 2027, following those for 2024 and 2025. Public relations work, as well as events and training courses for 2026 and an outlook for 2027 – including preparations for the 2028 Baden-Württemberg Landscape Architecture Prize – rounded off the report. The 2026 budget was approved accordingly.

Highlights from the entertaining general meeting, featuring a presentation on Heilbronn’s journey towards becoming the ‘European Green Capital 2027’ and a subsequent city tour showcasing various project elements, both small and large, in Heilbronn

Ruth Kjer confirmed

as Deputy Chair In the board elections, the incumbent Deputy Chair, Ruth Kjer, was confirmed in her post. With her unanimous re-election, she begins her second term of office, which, in accordance with the Articles of Association, lasts for three years. She is responsible for the area of landscape planning on the Executive Committee, represents the bdla BW in this professional field at various institutions, and is in charge of the annual continuing professional development programme ‘Landscape & Planning’.

Florian Thurn, a landscape architect from Tübingen, who has been a student intern at bdla BW since 2011 and was a bdla junior member until 2019, and who, with the status of architect in training (AiP), and also active as a member of the Representatives’ Assembly of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, has been appointed to the Executive Board as a new assessor – now in his capacity as a landscape architect.

This was followed by reports on professional policy from the bdla Federal Association, the AKBW, bwgrün and other professional policy bodies.
Michael Hink was given a warm send-off following the handover of the baton in spring 2026 to Daniel Lindemann, who will henceforth represent bdla BW on the Assembly of Representatives of bwgrün.de.
He will remain with bdla BW for a while longer as an assessor on the Executive Board.

Heilbronn: Between ‘Heat Capital’ and European Green Capital
The supporting programme for the General Meeting was opened with a welcome address by Mayor Andreas Ringle, Head of Department IV – Construction, Planning, Housing and Environment – for the City of Heilbronn. Oliver Toellner, Head of the Parks and Green Spaces Department of the City of Heilbronn, then gave a presentation entitled ‘Heilbronn: between Heat Capital and European Green Capital’, providing an insight into the current challenges and strategies regarding urban development and climate adaptation in Heilbronn.

Following a discussion moderated by Daniel Lindemann, participants enjoyed a light lunch together at the Campus Garden restaurant.
In the afternoon, accompanied by Oliver Toellner, participants toured heat protection measures and urban tree planting schemes in Heilbronn city centre, at Experimenta-Platz, and examined urban development in the Neckarbogen, the former site of the 2019 BUGA.

The minutes of the general meeting will be sent to members shortly.
