On 25 June 2026, the bdla Berlin-Brandenburg Regional Association hosted an event at BHROX on Ernst-Reuter-Platz – entitled ‘ACT NOW – Film, Photography and Discussion on the Future of Landscape Architecture’.
Following the aperitif, Lioba Lissner, Chair of bdla Berlin-Brandenburg, Eike Richter, Berlin Chamber of Architects, Oliver Schruoffeneger, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf District Councillor, and Prof. Gabriele G. Kiefer, Technical University of Braunschweig, welcomed the guests.
A guided tour led by Jochen Flenker, Head of the Green Spaces Department at the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf District Office, and Oliver Schruoffeneger, on the climate-friendly redesign of Ernst-Reuter-Platz, rounded off the programme.
The focus was on a preview of the film “ACT NOW. A Call to Action”, produced at the Institute of Landscape Architecture, Braunschweig University of Technology, as part of Germany’s contribution to the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2025. ‘Stress Test’ addressed construction as one of the biggest drivers of climate change and, in a 360-degree video projection, highlighted potential solutions – unsurprisingly, mostly projects by landscape architects.
Some of the interviews from ACT NOW were also recorded during a bdla ‘Walk&Talk’ in Venice in October 2025, hosted by bdla President Prof. Stephan Lenzen and co-curator of the German Pavilion, Prof. Gabriele G. Kiefer.
The BHROX also hosted the presentation of the photo series ‘PlatzHirschIn’ by Erik-Jan Ouwerkerk – featuring landscape architects in landscapes in the broadest sense – which was received with great enthusiasm.
Neither project is complete; both are ‘ongoing’.
