In the area of conflict between the client and the contractor, it is the landscape architect's responsibility to ensure that the contractual services are carried out free of defects and in accordance with the recognised rules of technology, and to support the client in asserting his claims and rights.

Part 3 of the seminar series deals with recurring problems at the interfaces between the preliminary trades and the gardening and landscaping trades.

The seminar deals with typical and frequent interface problems which the landscape architect encounters in preparation and in the course of construction. It illuminates both the technical and legal aspects in the practice of project supervision.

On the basis concrete examples from practice these problem cases and procedures are discussed. These are e.g.

  • Compaction of the building ground (technical)
  • Divisions in the construction field (time-related)
  • Materials provided by the customer (technical/legal)
  • Roof sealing (technical inspection)
  • facade connections (technical)
  • Correct and effective handling of concerns and obstructions
  • Examination and clarification obligations of the architect

At the same time, practical solution possibilities are shown, taking into account the legal background - mainly the VOB/B contract. The relevant rules from the new building law and references to current case law are also included.
