In addition to this, a presentation was given on 11 December 2025 at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences by the prospective landscape architect Annalena Bresin, who presented her current Bachelor’s thesis in the field of landscape architecture. She summarised her work as follows: “This Bachelor’s thesis examines the role of women in the historical and contemporary design of gardens and landscapes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The study focuses on female figures who, as princesses, duchesses, clients or landscape architects, were involved in various ways in the processes of garden design. This encompasses specific planning decisions, the promotion of horticultural projects and the shaping of cultural paradigms. The aim of this thesis is to highlight the contribution of these women, which has so far been largely overlooked, to identify existing gaps in research, and to encourage a shift in perspective towards gender history within garden and landscape research. This study spans a period from the early modern era through the GDR era to the present day and provides new insights into the place of women’s design activities within the cultural and social context of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.”
