The Bad Lippspringe State Garden Show opens its doors on 12 April 2017. Approx. 480,000 visitors are expected until 15 October 2017. The bdla nw attracts attention with the contribution "Die blaue Lichtung" (the blue clearing) (award-winning design of the competition for young designers) in the Kaiser-Karls-Park in the area of home garden examples.

At the opening press conference, the Minister for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Johannes Remmel, succinctly expressed his anticipation of "floral splendour and forest idyll". "This is an overwhelming impression! We want to revive the potential of Bad Lippspringe," the minister said in his statement.

In his remarks, Remmel made clear the state's objective with the garden shows: "It's not just an event, but the promotion of lasting development." North Rhine-Westphalia is the horticultural state of the republic, he said, and also wants to promote new themes, such as urban gardening.

Mayor Andreas Bee expressed his delight at the coming months: "The garden show has awakened Bad Lippspringe from its slumber. In the past few months in particular, a tremendous dynamic has arisen in our town. We have a fresh wind under our wings and have reinvented ourselves!".

On behalf of the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Gartenbau und Landespflege des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (LAGL), the chairman of the board of directors, Manfred Lorenz, emphasised the horticultural commitment: "The gardeners have done a great job and created a very beautiful park. The home gardens with suggestions for one's own garden will be a highlight of the State Garden Show".

Around eleven million euros flowed into the garden show and urban development in Bad Lippspringe from state funds. The country North-Rhine/Westphalia gives promotion means for the durable investment, not for the execution of the half-year schau. 5.67 million comes from the MKULNV, for investments in the park and for other projects, e.g. the project Kleinarchitektur aus Baubuche (350,000 €), the Lichtungsgärten and the project Urbangardening. The Ministry of Building, Housing and Transport supported the project with €5.3 million. Further information on the State Garden Show can be found at www.lgs2017.de
