More than 150 students from the universities of Ösnabrück and Höxter accepted the invitation of the Verband Garten-, -Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau NRW e.V. (NRW Garden, Landscape and Sports Ground Construction Association) to gain inspiration and information for starting their careers on 17 May at the Landesgartenschau Bad Lippspringe 2017.

After a breakfast and a welcome by Benjamin Küsters, board member of VGL NRW, Ina Bimberg gave first insights into the future professional life. She particularly emphasized the diversity of the profession and gave encouragement: "Never before have the career opportunities for newcomers been so good. Numerous planning offices are looking for suitable employees. Don't be afraid to approach the planning office of your choice on your own initiative. This is appreciated by most office owners," says Bimberg.

"Find your strengths and weaknesses. Work on the specialization that suits you. Not everyone can be top drafter. You may be more of a communicator and be able to communicate projects and ideas particularly persuasively to boards and to the client," she further encouraged. "Small fly in the ointment, however, she said, is that offices generally pay lower starting salaries than, for example, the civil service or GaLaBau."

For the group photo with "green glasses" everyone then had to go on stage. Afterwards, there was enough time to explore the garden show and to exchange ideas with fellow students.
