On 7 February 2018, the winners of the 2018 Gardens of the Year competition will be announced at Schloss Dyck. On this evening, the 50 best gardens of the year will be presented in an exhibition, which will then be on display for visitors to Schloss Dyck for several weeks in the Orangery.

In summer 2017, Callwey Verlag and Garten Landschaft, together with their partners Mein schöner Garten, Gartenpraxis, BGL Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e. V., bdla Bund Deutscher Landschaftsarchitekten, DGGL Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gartenkunst und Landschaftskultur e.V., KANN GmbH Baustoffwerke, Hofquartier and Schloss Dyck, held the GARDENS OF THE YEAR competition for the third time. A jury of nine, in which bdla vice-president Irene Burkhardt, Munich, had participated, had selected the best private gardens in the German-speaking countries designed by landscape architects / garden and landscape builders.

A unique overview of the most beautiful private gardens of the most creative garden designers in German-speaking countries is offered by the documentation of the competition Gardens of the Year 2018. Landscape architects, garden designers and garden and landscape builders are called upon annually to submit particularly successful, realized private gardens, which are selected and awarded by a renowned jury.

The book, which will be available in stores from February 8, 2018, shows an impressive variety of the most diverse private gardens by means of inspiring color illustrations and expressive garden plans. Detailed information on special features of the plot, the concept, the materials used and the choice of plants round off the 50 garden portraits.
