Climate adaptation strategies - event on 13 June at the Zeche Zollverein Coal

The bdla nw is organising a full-day event in cooperation with the Bundesstiftung Baukultur. You can expect interesting lectures by internationally renowned speakers and exciting panel discussions. The event is recognized as a continuing education event for landscape architects, architects and urban planners with 3 hours. Registration deadline is June 7. The symposium is divided into three thematic sessions.

First, Stephan Lenzen, bdla Vice President and landscape architect from Bonn, outlines the challenges facing the profession. Guido Halbig, meteorologist at the German Weather Service, and Prof. Dr. Sanda Lenzholzer from the University of Wageningen shed light on the phenomenon of climate change and the different effects on life in our cities.

In the second part, practiced regional adaptation strategies will be presented using the examples of Karlsruhe and Vienna. Dr. Martin Berchtold, Büro berchtoldkrass space&options from Karlsruhe, reports on the "green city" as a cross-cutting theme for integrated and sustainable urban development. Prof. Helga Fassbinder from Vienna presents the "Biotope City Wienerberg" - the city as nature.
At the end there will be questions of practical implementation in the design of "climate-resilient open spaces". Gerhard Hauber from Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl will show national and international examples of integrated rainwater management in urban planning. Prof. Dr. Nicole Pfoser HFWU, Nürtingen describes the possibility of using building areas as "green spaces" without using up soil.
