All members of the Chamber are eligible to vote until 3 December 2025. The BDLA is the only association dedicated exclusively to the interests of landscape architecture – open, diverse and collegial. Many of the most exciting practices in North Rhine-Westphalia are part of our network; this is where the projects in the region that everyone is talking about are created. Statement by Marcel Wiegard, Chair of bdla nw:

2025 was an eventful year for landscape architecture in North Rhine-Westphalia – and also my first six months as Chair of the BDLA in NRW. During this time, it has become clear just how firmly our profession has established itself in dialogue with politics, the civil service and the planning sector.

Over the past few months, the BDLA has been involved in key events that have placed the focus on landscape architecture. The NRW Local Authority Climate Adaptation Congress at the Ministry for the Environment brought together hundreds of climate adaptation managers from towns and local authorities – with a strong voice from the field of landscape architecture. The BDLA was also in demand as a discussion partner at the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction’s Inner-City Congress and at the Green Infrastructure Summit organised by the Ruhr Regional Association. In all these forums, we were able to demonstrate that our expertise extends far beyond traditional open-space planning: we are shaping transformation and are in greater demand than ever. The new Green–Blue Infrastructure Award will be presented for the first time in January 2026 at InfraTech in Essen. It recognises projects that combine design, the environment and technology in an exemplary manner: the BDLA is a key co-initiator.

2025 Chamber Elections – Your vote counts

The developments described above show just how confidently landscape architecture is making its mark today – and how important it is to have a strong voice within the Chamber’s work as well. So fill in your ballot papers now and vote for the bdla. Every vote counts to ensure that the Association of German Landscape Architects (BDLA) can continue to represent the interests of landscape architects in North Rhine-Westphalia to the highest standard in the future.
