The study tour will visit Leipzig for the first time on Friday 21 August 2026, focusing on educational spaces: the programme includes old and new school grounds, as well as small and complex sites. A key focus throughout will be the integration of schools into their surroundings and neighbourhoods, and the opening up of schools. Some of the sites are open to the public: here, a public campus links two types of school; there, a win-win situation is emerging between schools and nearby parks for pupils attending all-day schooling. In all examples, climate, heat protection, rainwater management, heavy rainfall preparedness and sustainability also play a role.
The guided tours are led by landscape architects and are enriched by the client’s perspective and the insights of educational staff. The tour includes snacks and drinks throughout the day, as well as a closing picnic with professional discussions in the Rietschkeaue. From there, it is not far to Leipzig Central Station. We’re hoping for the usual summer weather for the tour!
