The time has finally come – Saxony’s first mentoring programme for young people in the planning sector is set to launch!
In a pilot phase, we’re inviting women who would like support as they progress in their careers to take part. Would you like to set up your own business? Or would you like to develop your career further, but aren’t quite sure how?
The Saxony Chamber of Architects’ mentoring programme gives you the opportunity to share experiences with your personal mentor and receive guidance on your project. You can also get to know other women in the planning sector and build a network to expand and strengthen your professional circle. All disciplines within the planning sector are welcome – architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and urban planning.
Mentoring – a brief explanation
Mentoring is a tried-and-tested tool for personal development, in which an experienced person (mentor) passes on their knowledge, skills and network to a less experienced person (mentee) in order to support their personal and professional development. This relationship is built on a dialogue founded on mutual appreciation and respect, and requires a relationship based on trust. This allows personal opinions and experiences to be shared.
As a mentee, you benefit from mentoring because:
- it encourages you to reflect on your career
- you receive constructive feedback on potential ideas
- you are provided with informal, career-relevant knowledge in an accessible way
- it can help you avoid making the wrong decisions and helps you overcome obstacles
As a mentor, mentoring is valuable because:
- You can further develop your personal advisory skills
- You get to know the perspectives and challenges faced by young people in the planning sector
- you contribute to equal opportunities in staff development
