On 26 February 2026, we at bdla Saxony hosted a ‘Climate-Friendly Community Development’ workshop at the Kraftwerk Mitte in Dresden as part of our Erasmus+ project LiF-T – Landscape in Focus. LiF-T is developing practical planning tools for climate-friendly landscape development in small communities – in collaboration with partners from Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Finland.
An all-round successful day – with a diverse audience comprising local authorities, specialist departments and planning firms, and plenty of practical ideas.

An introduction to the LiF-T project and its findings was followed by five specialist presentations:
Kirstin Kleeberg (LfULG Saxony) highlighted the requirements of the KAnG – and the practical support available through local climate information, tools and funding opportunities on ReKIS.
Uwe Ferber (STADTLAND GmbH, Leipzig) demonstrated how local authorities can systematically identify, prioritise and fund climate adaptation projects – and summed it up succinctly: the first step does not have to be perfect.
Sylvia Staudte (architekturCONCEPT, Zwickau) reported on the ‘Klimacoaching Rodewisch’ pilot project: vocational and sixth-form students developed concepts for climate-resilient open-space design – in a participatory, imaginative and transferable way.
Aaron Arndt (Vestre GmbH, Berlin) demonstrated how municipal outdoor spaces can be designed in a sustainable and cost-effective manner using durable street furniture, leasing models and repair services.
Ulrich Krüger (UKL Landscape Architects / bdla Saxony) and Stephanie Pohl (Centre for Building Culture Saxony) presented the Saxony Mobile Design Advisory Board: following a successful pilot phase involving 21 projects in 16 municipalities, the advisory scheme will be extended to the whole of Saxony in 2026.
The concluding panel discussion once again highlighted the huge potential that lies in collaboration between local authorities, planning firms and specialist agencies – provided they engage with one another.
