On 25 June 2026, the bdla Executive Committee met in Berlin to discuss key issues relating to the association’s development. Topics included the membership fee structure, strengthening professional development and the promotion of young talent, and the strategic direction of the association’s political advocacy work.

Following the Advisory Board meeting, the establishment of a working group was discussed; this group is to review the existing membership fee regulations in light of changes to office and economic structures and draw up a proposal for reform by the next Advisory Board meeting. The aim is to modernise the membership fee structure and adapt it to today’s circumstances.

Another key focus was on professional development and the promotion of young talent. The Executive Committee tasked the national secretariat with conducting a nationwide survey on professional development opportunities in order to systematically identify needs and derive recommendations for the further development of professional development programmes within the bdla and its regional groups. At the same time, the committee gave a positive assessment of the 2026 Landscape Architecture Higher Education Day. The excellent response from universities, planning offices, associations and local authorities, as well as the desire to continue the event, led to the decision to organise the event every two years in future.

With regard to policy work, preparations were also made for the Executive Committee’s closed-door meeting in November. Under the overarching theme of ‘Political representation at federal and state level’, a coordinated strategy for the association’s political advocacy is to be developed in collaboration with policy spokespersons and the chairs of the regional groups.
