On Sunday, 25 January 2026, the joint New Year’s reception organised by the Green associations – bdla Berlin-Brandenburg, DGGL, FGL and LVGA – took place at the Haus am Waldsee in Berlin. Numerous guests accepted the invitation and enjoyed an inspiring yet personal start to the new year in a special atmosphere.

As part of the welcome address by the chairpersons of the organising associations, Lioba Lissner, who has been chair of bdla Berlin-Brandenburg since autumn 2025, officially opened the reception. In her welcoming address, she emphasised the importance of interdisciplinary exchange amongst the Green associations and the central role of landscape architecture in the face of current challenges such as climate adaptation, urban development and the quality of open spaces.

We were particularly delighted to welcome Andreas Kraus, State Secretary for Climate Protection and the Environment for the State of Berlin, as well as Benedikt Lux, Member of the Berlin House of Representatives and spokesperson for the environment and nature, Daniela Billig of Alliance 90/The Greens, and former Minister Dellmann from Brandenburg. The presence of our guests from politics and public administration underscored the relevance of our shared professional perspectives for sustainable urban and landscape development.

Following the speeches, guided tours of the garden and the exhibition at the Haus am Waldsee provided an opportunity for in-depth discussion. The garden, designed by Georg von Gayl, was expertly presented by Benedikt Stockmayer, whilst Anna Gritz, Director of the Haus am Waldsee, provided insights into the exhibition. The conversation continued in a relaxed atmosphere over the coffee buffet that followed.

The New Year’s reception was not only a successful start to 2026, but also a strong symbol of the cooperation between the Green associations. We look forward to a year of exciting professional engagement and collaboration.
