The lecture series ‘How Climate-Just is Landscape Architecture?’, organised by the Association of German Landscape Architects (bdla), the German Society for Garden Art and Landscape Culture (DGGL) and Leibniz University Hannover, will continue under the new title ‘Landscape as a Space for the Future’ with the event ‘Landscape Endures – Perspectives for an Open Society’ on 20 April 26.

This year’s opening event is intended to launch an interdisciplinary discourse that goes beyond merely highlighting the substantive approaches to sustainable urban and landscape development. Rather, it aims to examine and critically scrutinise the current and future conditions, as well as the planning strategies for their implementation.
The sociologist, social psychologist and publicist Harald Welzer, together with the landscape architect and professor Antje Stokman, will present insights on this topic on 20 April 2026 from 6.00 pm, drawing on socio-political, sociological and scientific perspectives, and will emphasise the relevance of these issues for a forward-looking, open society. As the lecture series progresses, approaches and questions based on these insights will be explored in greater depth and discussed.
When: 20 April 2026, from 6.00 pm
Where: KiKa, Leibniz University Hannover – Institute of Landscape Architecture, Kirchenkanzlei lecture theatre, Herrenhäuser Str. 2a, 30149 Hanover
The event is open to the public and free of charge; no registration is required.
