The seminar is aimed at landscape architects and employees of nature conservation authorities and local authorities (previous knowledge is desirable, but not essential).
Objective
Participants will learn about a selection of drought stress-tolerant tree species and how to recognize and assess climate-related tree damage. The aim is to achieve improved planning "certainty".
Content
Climate extremes, including prolonged dry periods, especially during the growing season, have caused street, park and forest trees to suffer. Many prominent trees have died and their absence has changed the cityscape and landscape. This fact needs to be dealt with in a forward-looking way.
After a brief insight into tree biology, you will learn about selected "new" tree diseases in both a theoretical and a practical part (excursion to a park) in this one-day seminar, so that you can use this knowledge to better assess the expected life expectancy of the affected trees. In this context, both native and foreign tree species that exhibit drought stress-tolerant characteristics will be presented and discussed.
