10th Weihenstephan Forum for Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning 2017

Fri. 20 October 2017, 9:00 - 17:00
International Beverage Science Center of TUM Weihenstephan

Plants accompany, nourish and delight people at every turn. They are also the fundamental elements of almost all ecosystems and determine many ecosystem functions. Plants are therefore rightly the focus of research and teaching in landscape architecture and landscape planning. This year, the Weihenstephan Forum 2017 would therefore like to give experts space to approach selected questions of plant use in landscape architecture, nature conservation planning and ecological renaturation from different angles.

- Ecological functions of innovative plant use
- Aesthetics and maintenance requirements of urban greenery
- Garden plants as (future) invasive alien species
- Floral adulteration through reintroduction of natural populations'
- Animal-plant interactions of alien provenances and cultivars.

These challenges are not independent of each other, and they are given additional weight by current urban developments, changing land use and climate change. A group of invited experts will address these issues in a complementary way and discuss them together with the audience.

Invited guest speakers are

  • Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Ludwig (Technical University of Munich)
  • Prof. Dr. Norbert Kühn (Technical University Berlin)
  • Prof. Dr. Swantje Duthweiler (Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences)
