Bavarian Chamber of Architects: Presidium and Board of Directors newly elected

Lydia Haack is the new President of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects

At its constituent meeting on 25 June 2021, the XIIIth Representative Assembly of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects elected architect and urban planner Prof. Lydia Haack as President of the Chamber. She replaces architect Christine Degenhart, who has headed the Bavarian Chamber of Architects since July 2016. The newly elected 1st Vice President is architect Prof. Clemens Richarz. Landscape architect and urban planner Franz Damm, top candidate of the list of landscape architects bdla, was appointed as further vice president.

By virtue of its legal mandate, the Bavarian Chamber of Architects represents the professional interests of more than 25,000 architects, interior architects, landscape architects and urban planners. This includes safeguarding the performance quality of the profession as well as promoting building culture and also the necessary consumer protection.

"I would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in me and I look forward to working with you. Great challenges await the Bavarian Chamber of Architects in order to make the profession fit for the future. These include climate protection, digitalisation and the promotion of young talent. As a team with the board and the office, we will tackle these and all other tasks with the necessary respect and openness," said Lydia Haack after her election.
Haack has been a member of the board of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects since 2016. Together with her partner John Höpfner, she runs the architecture firm Haack Höpfner Architekten in Munich. She teaches building construction and design at the University of Applied Sciences in Constance and is the regional chairwoman of the BDA Association of German Architects in Bavaria.

In addition to the President and the two Vice-Presidents, the members of the Chamber's Board of Directors for the next five years are:
