ARKO, an independent, professional co-operative, is currently being established to provide a fiduciary digital ecosystem, thereby strengthening architects’ and engineers’ rights to data, their expertise and their copyright.
It is being established to safeguard the profession’s digital self-determination and to enhance the quality of digital design and construction through transparent, standardised data structures.
The primary aim is to safeguard and promote the free and independent practice of the profession in the long term.
A successful example of this co-operative and fiduciary approach can be found in DATEV. It is precisely this principle that ARKO applies to the world of architecture and planning: a shared infrastructure that sets standards, protects data and lays the foundations for confident, efficient and independent digital working.
The ARKO working group comprises the State Chambers of Architects of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hesse, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.
