The Bavarian Association of Garden, Landscape and Sports Ground Construction (VGL Bayern) mourns the loss of its former president and honorary member, Volker May.
The bdla Bavaria joins in commemorating Volker May and expresses its gratitude for his valuable contribution at the interface with landscape architecture.
With his enthusiasm and passion for landscaping, Volker May inspired not only his own apprentices – some of whom went on to study landscape architecture after completing their training. Over the decades, he also provided numerous students with work experience placements as part of their studies – thereby giving them valuable insight into day-to-day life on building sites and professional practice. We landscape architects will remember him as a remarkable individual, thanks to his professional expertise, his great dedication and his warm, down-to-earth manner.
The entrepreneur and recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit from Feldkirchen near Munich passed away on 12 February 2026 at the age of 94.
