The development of future-oriented urban spaces presents a wide range of challenges for the design disciplines of architecture and landscape architecture. The topics of resource-conserving, resilient construction, the design of usable and playable spaces and the development of suitable atmospheres are interdisciplinary.
An early dialog between the designing disciplines enables a comprehensive and joint development of the project. In the best case scenario, knowledge can merge, the appropriate paths for the project can be taken and the perspective and understanding for each other can grow. The optimum solution for the location can thus be found. The building enters into a dialog with its context, the urban space gains a special place, the outside has an effect on the inside.

Modern landscape architecture has complex tasks to meet the diverse requirements of our ever-changing society. It has the requirement, with in the first place of the planning disciplines, to coin the currents to more climate-fair planning and building. No other discipline combines the resource-conserving use of space and goods across the various planning levels. Starting from spatial planning to object planning, landscape architecture and planning are represented.
The general public, administrations, politics as well as our cooperating disciplines make demands for planning in the sector of landscape and green, which should protect us in the future from the major influences of climate change.

Around 240 million tons of mineral waste are produced annually during construction work in Germany. This summer, the Substitute Construction Materials Ordinance (EBV) and the amended Federal Soil Protection and Contaminated Sites Ordinance (BBodSchV), two federal ordinances, which will replace the previously applicable state regulations on the recycling of excavated soil and construction waste, will come into force. The regulations frequently used as a basis for assessment in practice - such as LAGA Notice 20 and the "Technical Rules for Soil" - will cease to apply when the new EBV comes into force.

Does the traffic turnaround offer room for new green?
In our society, personal habits are changing, and forms of mobility are even changing structurally. People stay at home to work and use their bicycles to run errands. People shop online and bring the world into their own four walls. Mobility is changing, into the opposite that was unimaginable until recently: Roads are being dismantled here and there - mostly still experimentally - in favor of individual forms of locomotion.
The public open space then no longer occupied only by road traffic is being developed as an island with comfortable, mostly still temporary quality of stay with greenery. However, new bicycle expressways and mobility hubs that enable the most seamless possible linking of different modes of transportation also require space and are often in competition with the concerns of landscape and nature conservation as well as other desires of society.
The profession of landscape architects is active in an interdisciplinary way with the planning professions to adapt our cities, villages and settlements to these challenges to the built environment and to the requirements of climate change, the energy transition and the resulting change in mobility.

How integrative planning strategies mitigate the impacts of climate change.
The impacts of climate change are being felt in everyday life and are affecting global livelihoods. Landscape architecture is particularly in demand as an integrative planning discipline in the development of solutions. It is the link on a professional level between structural solutions and object planning. It raises, preserves and develops the interests of nature and landscape. At the same time, it implements planning requirements in terms of design and makes a major contribution to the creation of our experienceable environment.
