The bdla Hesse Regional Association, its Executive Committee and its members mourn the loss of landscape architect Botho Schwarz, who had served as an honorary member of the Regional Association’s Executive Committee since 1994 and held the post of Treasurer from 1995 to 2001.
Following his appointment as Federal Treasurer to the Presidium of the bdla Federal Association in 2002, he remained loyal to the Hessian Executive Committee as a member.
It was not until 2014 that he retired from active service on the Executive Committee.
We remember his ever-cheerful nature, as well as the amiable, highly reliable and, at the same time, serious collaboration we enjoyed with him on the Executive Committee.
He was a source of ideas to us. As part of the Princely Garden Festival at Wolfsgarten Castle in Langen and at Fasanerie Castle in Fulda, he oversaw numerous show garden projects together with the Executive Committee and participating members from the association, some of which he planned and implemented himself, helped to build, and – in keeping with his role within the association – managed financially in line with the budget.
Botho Schwarz passed away on 29 September 2025 in Eltville am Rhein.
Below, we have provided a link to the obituary published by the bdla Federal Association:
