Fertile soil, rolling hills and ancient manors – the Calenberger Land, just outside Hanover, reflects an eventful history of its formation and use. We want to find out exactly what this means on a cycle tour, though we don’t intend to view it solely from a human perspective. To mark the Intraregionale 2026 (intraregionale.org), we’d like to experience this historic cultural landscape through the eyes of insects as well:
The scope of this half-day specialist excursion ranges from the effects of decades of intensive agriculture, through new forms of land use and urban development, to current challenges in heritage conservation and environmental education. Together with experts from the fields of biology, nature conservation and species protection, urban and landscape planning, as well as historic garden conservation and landscape architecture, we aim to broaden both our and your horizons.

Date and itinerary:
The excursion begins on 12 June 2026 at 1.00 pm at the Empelde tram stop in Hanover. Once participants have registered, we will set off on our own bikes to the first stop at Gehrdener Berg. We will then continue on to the ecological settlement of Wennigsen. We will then embark on a cycle tour of around 20 km across the north-western part of the Calenberger Land region to the NABU nature discovery garden in Gehrden-Benthe and on to Untergut Lenthe, with recognised experts on the region providing insights into its various facets at each stop. The highlight of the event will be a closing interdisciplinary discussion at the DorfHaus Lenthe eG. Over a few cold drinks and some light refreshments, we’ll round off the evening on the edge of the Benther Berg, before participants make their own way home from around 8.00 pm.
Following the event, we will be happy to issue you with a certificate of professional development upon request for submission to the Chamber of Architects.
