bdla president pleads for a modern climate adaptation law
On May 24, 2023, the "Parliamentary Breakfast" of the green associations Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e. V. (BGL), Bund deutscher Baumschulen (BdB) and Bund Deutscher Landschaftsarchitekt:innen (bdla) took place in Berlin. The focus of the exchange with 20 members of the German Bundestag was on planning, production, construction and maintenance of public green spaces.

BAK presents model conversion regulations as a contribution to the sustainable development of cities and municipalities
On May 19, 2023, the German Federal Chamber of Architects (BAK) presented a concrete proposal for a new model building code to Federal Minister of Construction Klara Geywitz during the opening weekend of the Venice Architecture Biennale. The proposal shows how the building codes of the federal states need to be adapted in order to promote the preservation of existing buildings in the sense of sustainable use of natural and existing resources. Furthermore, redensification in existing buildings and neighborhoods is to be facilitated and, in this context, a strong focus is to be placed on green infrastructure. The aim is to achieve a compact urban and settlement structure with high-quality open spaces while preserving as much building fabric as possible.

It is a practical tool for all responsible parties involved in the construction process to enter the topic of sustainability step by step and to accompany the building owners in sustainability issues in a structured manner.

On June 1, 2023, the exhibition of young landscape architecture "FRSICHGRÜN21" will open on the premises of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences in Höxter. To kick off the two-week exhibition, two landscape architects of different generations will discuss the special role and quality of the work of young offices on June 1, starting at 5:30 pm.

The Europan E17 competition on the theme of "Living Cities 2" was launched on March 27, 2023. Germany is participating in the process with eight locations - Bad Lobenstein, Berlin, Borkum, Ingolstadt, Kassel, Leipzig, Munich and Regensburg. Europan is an architectural and urban planning ideas competition held every two years that brings together European cities with the next generation of architects, urban planners and open space planners.

"When the tide goes out - toolbox against the doldrums" is the theme of the 19th Landscaping Conference at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences on June 16, 2023. A series of presentations will provide impetus on marketing, plant use, rainwater harvesting, digitalization as well as diversification against the backdrop of current and future challenges such as a shortage of skilled workers, sustainable business and climate change.
