On 26 January 2026, the time will finally come again: we will be awarding – for the fourth time now – the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Prize in cooperation with the Bavarian Chamber of Architects and the Bavarian Association of Garden, Landscape and Sports Ground Construction, and we look forward to receiving exemplary competition entries featuring projects realised in Bavaria. Entries can be submitted and edited online until 6 April 2026.
The
aim of the award is to raise awareness, both within professional circles and amongst the wider public, of the role of landscape architects as pioneering partners, and to highlight their particular responsibility for the social, ecological and climate-sensitive further development and design of outdoor spaces and their integration into the urban fabric, to recognise the promotion of built environment culture and design quality by landscape architects in collaboration with architects and specialist engineers from various disciplines; to acknowledge the support provided by clients for innovative approaches and solutions in the built environment; to honour exemplary and innovative solutions that could find widespread application in practice, and to encourage the courage to experiment and the willingness to put new forms of collaboration into practice at a local level.
Reiner Nagel, architect, urban planner and Chairman of the Board of the Federal Foundation for Building Culture, has assumed the patronage of the awards.
As always, a main prize will be awarded, along with prizes in the following seven categories: landscape planning and development, use of plants and biodiversity, public parks and green spaces, squares and streets in public spaces, open spaces for people in residential, educational and working environments, experimental landscape architecture and construction in detail, and ‘Maturity Test’ – projects 20 years old or older. In 2026, the general public will once again be invited to vote for a People’s Choice Award.
The following have agreed to sit on the two-stage judging panel:
- Claudia Blaurock (landscape architect, Dresden)
- Theresa Burmester (landscape architect, Frankfurt am Main)
