The health and social benefits of urban green spaces will be the focus of discussions in Frankfurt am Main on 12 and 13 June

Under the title ‘The Value of Green Spaces – Health and Social Potential’, this year’s Federal Congress of the Green Professional Associations is taking place in Frankfurt am Main. Participants from across Germany will gather between 10 and 13 June 2026 to discuss topics relating to this year’s theme.

International conference on climate adaptation and energy saving, 9–11 June 2026 in Berlin

For three days in June 2026, the focus will be on greening roofs, façades and interiors. Around 800 participants from Germany and abroad are expected to attend the World Congress on Green Buildings, which is being held under the patronage of Carsten Schneider, Federal Minister for the Environment, and Ute Bonde, Berlin Senator for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment.

Johanna Wennemar’s Master’s thesis ‘Laurophyllisation’ at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences receives an award

The effects of climate change are placing increasing pressure on urban trees. Heat, drought and sealed surfaces significantly hinder their growth. Johanna Wennemar addressed this challenge in her Master’s thesis “Laurophyllisation – An opportunity for climate-resilient use of trees and shrubs in the city”. The graduate of the Master’s programme in Landscape Architecture at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences was awarded the Karl Foerster Foundation’s 2025 International Ulmer Prize for this work on 20 March 2026 in Osnabrück. The prize, worth 4,000 euros, recognises innovative research in the field of vegetation science.

Green Summit and the 2026 Gardens of the Year Awards Ceremony

Around 300 representatives from the green sector gathered on 26 February 2026 at the Ebben Nursery in Cuijk, the Netherlands, for the Green Summit. The event, organised by Callwey GmbH, was attended by landscape architects, garden designers and business owners, who used the occasion to exchange ideas, take part in expert panels and gain fresh inspiration for their work. The three panels focused on topics such as climate-resilient plants, insights from large-scale projects for private gardens, and collaboration within the sector.
