This year, the Garden Worlds event series of the North Rhine-Westphalia regional group will focus on "European Green Capital - Essen". The focus is on parks and open spaces in the region that are of particular importance for the city's green and blue infrastructure.

Only a good 5 months to go until the fsb trade fair in Cologne opens its doors from 07 - 10.11.2017. More than 150 students from the universities of Ösnabrück and Höxter accepted the invitation of the Verband Garten-, -Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau NRW e.V. (NRW Garden, Landscape and Sports Ground Construction Association) to gain inspiration and information for starting their careers on 17 May at the Landesgartenschau Bad Lippspringe 2017.

The competition for the German Landscape Architecture Award 2017 has been decided. First prize goes to the Rheinboulevard in Cologne-Deutz, designed by Planorama Landschaftsarchitektur, Berlin. This was decided by the jury in Berlin on 28 April 2017.

The Bad Lippspringe State Garden Show opens its doors on 12 April 2017. Approx. 480,000 visitors are expected until 15 October 2017. The bdla nw attracts attention with the contribution "Die blaue Lichtung" (the blue clearing) (award-winning design of the competition for young designers) in the Kaiser-Karls-Park in the area of home garden examples.

At the general meeting on 16 March 2017, Matthias Lill was bidden farewell as 1st chairman. With her election as 1st Chairperson of the North Rhine-Westphalia regional group of the Association of German Landscape Architects, Ina Bimberg, landscape architect from Iserlohn, now takes over this task. Martin Gasse, landscape architect from Bad Lippspringe, was elected to the office of 2nd Chairman OWL.
