Position of the professional association: The proposals are counterproductive and implausible

On 17 December 2025, the Federal Cabinet approved the Infrastructure Future Act tabled by Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder. The Act is intended to simplify planning and approval procedures and to accelerate infrastructure and energy transition projects. The Federation of German Landscape Architects welcomes, in principle, the aim of making procedures more efficient and avoiding duplicate checks; however, the current version of the draft bill requires significant technical clarification and correction.

The comprehensive digitalisation of our living and working environments presents the construction industry – which has hitherto been relatively under-digitalised – with entirely new opportunities and potential. Consequently, the Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodology has been developed in recent years. It is fundamentally important to understand that BIM is a process for establishing and managing a central data structure for a building project within a three-dimensional model. – The transition from the two-dimensional, plan-centred world to the three-dimensional, BIM-enabled modelling world requires a paradigm shift towards object-oriented planning.

On 12 September 2025, the latest competition brochure was published to mark the ceremonial presentation of the German Landscape Architecture Prize 2025. The bilingual documentation showcases the project ‘Höxter State Garden Show 2023’, which was honoured with the German Landscape Architecture Prize 2025, and presents the winning entries in the categories ‘Use of Plants’, ‘Public Space’, ‘Concepts for Nature and the City’, ‘Infrastructure and Mobility’, ‘Renovation of Existing Buildings’, ‘Climate Protection/Climate Adaptation’, ‘Final Examination’, ‘Play, Sport and Exercise’ and ‘Residential Environment’, as well as all the nominated entries.
